Thoughts: We were at Old Kinderhook in Mid-March, right in between the cold of winter and the warmth of Spring. The dual-purpose ice rink/volleyball court was still iced over from a winter of inviting guests to skate on the only outdoor skating rink in the area. In a few weeks, after the ice has melted, active guests can join in on a spirited game of volleyball.
The evening we came was a bit chilly outside, so the hostess escorted us to a warm inside table that still had a wonderful view of the golf course, the hills, and a glowing fire on the outdoor patio. I can imagine the patio would also be a great place to eat and enjoy a cocktail in warmer weather. That evening, it was quiet and romantic, just right for an enjoyable evening with that special someone.
We chatted with the waiter, had a glass of wine, and felt totally relaxed in the warm ambiance of the Trophy Room. We felt in no rush, and genuinely enjoyed our waiting time, soaking in the whole experience. Our dinner and drinks took about two hours, and we relished each minute.
My wife had the Salmon Oscar, a tender filet served with Asparagus, Jumbo Lump Crab, and a delicious Bernaise Sauce. I opted for the 8 ounce Center Cut Filet, tasty till the last bite. Both dishes were warm and cooked just right, adding to our already wonderful evening.
Join the Trophy Room for live music every Friday and Saturday night in the bar area. After a round of golf or a day of cruising around Lake of the Ozarks, it’s the perfect place to unwind with some drinks and great music.
One of the great things about The Trophy Room is that you do not have to be a member or guest of Old Kinderhook to dine there. It is open to the public year around. With its scenic location in the Ozarks, The Trophy Room is great for a casual lunch or dinner, or romantic fine dining experience.
Prices: Snacks like the Kinderhook Wings and Eggplant Fries are $12-15. Entrees are in the $20-40 range. Sandwiches and burgers with sides run $12-16.
